After School Programs
Smith Street Arts & Lettres offers two types of programming for after school care: La Garderie (Aftercare) and Enrichment Classes. Both offer new opportunities for our students to connect, share, and grow beyond the classroom in ways that are age-appropriate, engaging, and, of course, fun!
La garderie
Our elementary aftercare program, La garderie, runs until 6:00pm every full day of school. Under the watchful and nurturing guidance of Smith Street Arts & Lettres instructors, children enjoy a variety of structured activities, as well as free play, all en français !
* Please note La garderie is only available to families with students enrolled at Smith Street Arts & Lettres.
Enrichment Classes
Our spring semester enrichment begins Monday, February 5, 2024. Enrichment classes are held from 3:15–4:15pm, unless otherwise noted. Use the links below for registration and detailed information about each enrichment class. Classes are marked with (FR) or (EN) to indicate the language of instruction.
Lessons by Appointment
Private Instrument Lessons with Musication
The Brooklyn-based Musication offers personalized private, one-on-one lessons on both piano/keyboard and guitar/ukulele for the young beginner to the advancing student who’s been playing for a while. Their primary goal in teaching is to not only help build music skills on the instrument but also to inspire the fun, creativity, and joy that comes with learning to play an instrument.
Private Tutoring by Smith Street Workshop
French tutoring and academic support are available onsite through Smith Street Workshop.
We work with students from Pre-K through high school. Our teaching philosophy is based in the traditions of progressive education with a firm belief in respecting children as learners and in understanding that we do not all learn at the same rate or in the same way. The most important aspect of our teaching is to build confidence and to engender a sense of optimism and curiosity in our students when faced with a complex new concept. We look forward to helping your child rediscover the joy of learning and a sense of wonder when faced with intellectual challenges.
